@EGO POWER+

Hi all thank you for checking out my brand new $5,000 Ego lawn mower which was just delivered today. I am so excited to be DONE with ICE (internal combustion engine) lawn mowers as they quickly become a massive pain in the you know what. I’ve used a John Deere Z655 Zero Turn with a Briggs and Stratton engine for years. Trust me after you have changed the oil, air filter, oil filter, spark plugs, gas filter every season, plus dealing with battery drain, tire pressure, and gas trips you will just burn you out from the dream of owning that John Deere zero-turn. Thus, I was so ready for a good electric riding lawn mower!

Unfortunately, the 2013 John Deere Z655 zero turn mower turned out to be a fairly large piece of crap as the motor after three seasons started to leak engine oil. I took it to Tri-Green in Franklin, TN and they wanted $1,500 to fix the oil leak OR $1,700 to just replace the entire engine. That left me with a tough decision as even if I replaced the entire engine I was still risking large expenses in the future.

So, I started to search for other options looking for an electric riding lawn mower. I could either get another gas-powered John Deere for $7,500 or make the jump to an electric riding lawn mower. Thus, I decided to take a leap of faith and invest in the Ego Lawn Mower. This video discusses my first impressions of the Ego Zero Turn electric riding lawn mower.

In this Ego Zero Turn Mower review I discuss the sound, the power to cut some thick grass, the lack of engine noise, the battery, the charging unit, and speed, tech screen, seat adjustment options and more. On first impressions, the Ego Lawn Mower is very impressive. This Ego Zero Turn Lawn Mower is not cheap at $5,000. You can only get it currently at Lowes and Ace Hardware.

The Ego Power + ZERO TURN RIDING MOWER delivers 22 horsepower, almost equivalent to my John Deere gas engine which had 27, and it reaches a top speed of 8 MPH. The John Deere went 10 MPH so very comparable. The Ego Z6 Zero Turn mower covers up to 2-acres on a single charge with four 10Ah batteries (included). That is more than enough for me! Also, the Ego lawn mower charges fast, from zero to full in 2 hours! Ego says “Industry’s Fastest Charger fully charges 4 x 10Ah in just 2 hours, 4x faster than competitors.”

So far I am really enjoying and excited about the EGO POWER+ 42” Z6 ZERO TURN RIDING MOWER. Sure the deck is only 42 inches which is smaller than my last 54-inch deck. If you have any questions on the ego electric riding lawn mower let me know and I will do my best to answer.

As always thank you for watching my channel and please like and subscribe for more content.

  1. It's funny to see they wrote 22hp motor, while it's something between 2 and 4….

  2. Thinking about selling my xmark and picking up one of these. We have solar now. So electric is feeling free 🤣

  3. "It was going to cost $1500 to repair my mower so I'm using that as justification for buying a $5500 mower". Oooookay bud, just say you wanted a new toy.

  4. I’d like to buy a Tesla but $50,000 is a little bit out of my budget just saying that everybody has $50,000 to blow on a car

  5. You said the magic word As long as it lasts when something goes bad on that be prepared to pay big money for you I can see the houses that you live in right now everybody’s that wealthy

  6. Just want to ask when all your electric equipment dies or needs new batteries how do you dispose of the old ones also what is creating the electricity for you to charge all of this equipment

  7. I guess EGO didn't expect that customers would have problems with their tools, what a mistake.

After several attempts to get them on the phone then 2 days of testing and confirming a defective 7.5 amp battery for my Mower they said that they would replace it, wow that's great I thought.

Going on 5 weeks so far and I have not received it, no stock they claim yet retailers are fully stocked with EGO products.

In my experience with EGO Warranty Service it is TERRIBLE and if you need their help you can go for weeks if not months before you get to use the tools again.

I would not recommend buying their products.

  8. The Ego Z6 is the best accessory for the F150 Powerboost which can charge it up while driving between sites.

  9. Any updates on your impressions with this mower? I know you still had the tag on during your review. My only concern is that I've read reviews that the Ego batteries have gone down in quality.

  10. Buy a scag, I have two and a lawn mowing business and scags don’t leave anything behind and I haven’t had to fix a thing on them. I mow up to 30 hours on each mower a week

  11. I have an Ego 7.5 amp mower. I have read that many owners, including myself, find that the battery(s) lasts about 3 years with moderate use. Replacement battery is currently $375 (tx included), with 10amp even more expensive. So you may be looking at 2-3k+ every 3 years for replacement batteries(if your running on 4 10amp batteries) Yes electrics are quieter but I am going back to gas powered as I personally am not going to 2/3s the cost of my mower every 3 years for batteries. That said, if money were no object, it would be fun to have this mower.

  12. Very good review. Love this mower. Aside from the Harley, did I also see a Ducati? Unless I missed it, I don't recall you mentioning it…

  13. He mentioned several times that he didn’t want to pay John Deer $1700 to fix or replace the engine. I get it but I fail to see why he’s ok with spending $500 per battery in 5 years or so. That’s $2000 to $3000 depending on configuration.

A good gas engine can last years longer than batteries when property maintained.

I’m all for electric mowers and cars etc but the price has to drop significantly before the common folks who drive Honda, Toyota or KIA can jump onboard. Not all of us can afford Tesla or Aston Martin

  14. How tall is it? 40”-50”? If Under 40” tall, I could fit it in a mini van and not need a trailer.

  15. You have a Harley?! No wonder you are fed up with internal combustion engines. You should have bought a Japanese bike.

  16. Must be nice being wealthy,… talks about owning Tesla(S) and an Aston like its the most normal thing in the world; NEWSFLASH it's NOT! 🙂

  17. My neighbor has a ryobi battery powered riding mower and she weighs about 400 lbs. I can hear the poor thing screaming for its life everytime she mows but it gets the job done and it's not a zero turn and smaller than this one 🤷‍♂️

  18. This is the first video I came across in my search for this mower and surprised to see you live in Nashville too so that must be a sign.

  19. A rich guy with 3 vehicles talking about convenience and environment lmao

  20. as he talks in the video.. "talks," not yelling.. talking to the camera. . while cutting the grass. I'm comment # 421, sorry stoners. stingray is my favorite gen.

  21. I switched to an Ego push mower, string trimmer, leaf blower and snow blower a few years ago. Since the electric motors do not bog down like a gas engine, I can keep going, reducing the job time significantly. I don't miss cleaning air filters, changing and getting rid of used oil, harmful fumes, noise and the Ariens snow blower with a Briggs and Stratton engine that rarely started in the winter.

  22. This seems to be an awesome mower!!! Who services it for maintenance (i.e. mower blades, deck, tires, etc.)

  23. I don't even have grass and I want one of these lmao. Best part and I mean the best part. The batteries are easily replaced

  24. Mine just stopped working during 3rd mow. Closest service center 500 miles away..no shops in area will touch it…i liked it but i think a made a huge mistake. Most likely my mistake, i forgot it outside overnight and got wet.

  25. I bet future battery replacement for the mower will be easier than for those autos.

  26. Ego all the way. Ego equipment is awesome because the technology in them is so incredible.

  27. Do you know how many times I can get my lawn professionally cut for 5000.00?

  28. Good! I'm glad to come across someone understanding Li Ion charging ala Tesla. I did not know abt Ego but Cub Cadet and Ryobi. Ryobi being lead acid. Car batteries are great for turning over a starter motor, generally 2 sec per start. I do recall trying to start ICE engines until the battery died. Now, li Ion, I do know about. (Model 3). Does Ego jave a BMS? You did breeze by setting it to charge 77%, right? 3+ yrs as a lot of talk abt extending tesla battery life(teslanomics). Simply put, rule 1 never charge to 100% and let it sit there. Rule 2, never routinely charge to 100%. I have their BMS set to 80% max charge. Both CC and ryobi owners rail on shifty battery life. Again, can't address ryobi but assume EGO and Cub Cadet work on the same principles as Tesla…right. so if it takes 4hr to get to 100% don't finish a mow and recharge. Wait until 3 hrs before next week's mow and charge it for 3 hrs, or 3 hrs and 15min. Do you concur?
