Universal remote controls are great for replacing working remotes lying on the coffee table. But what to do when you don’t have the remote anymore, or when it died and the universal remote doesn’t know the TV or DVD player the remote was for?

In this video we use Arduino and a few parts together with some sketches to reconstruct a remote control for a TV found in the garbage dump.

The technique shown in this video does not work in all situations as it requires a bit of luck, but it may help you to get started.
