On Honda automatics use only this kind of fluid→ https://amzn.to/2EtGK97 Automatic transmission fluid service for Honda is different than most. You check it hot and engine off. Also Honda automatic transaxles don’t have a fluid pan, but rather a drain bolt. This is the pliers I used in the video→ https://amzn.to/2K6854K Flushing your transmission with chemicals does more harm that good. The main things are to use this kind of fluid→ https://amzn.to/2EtGK97 (save $5 over dealership) and clean the magnet on the drain plug. Many sensors are magnetic and will read wrong if too much metal is in there.

Damn, dude, replacing Honda Odyssey transmissions after people go to a quick lube joint and get talked into "flushing" their trans fluid is how I buy a new boat every couple years! You can't go teaching people all the secrets! Lol
Hey man I’m just chasing ghosts I guess you could say I’m not too sure if I need to swap my transmission or not I just thought I would quickly ask a question on here as a last ditch effort I have an 05 Honda CRV it has a five speed automatic all of a sudden once the transmission got hot it was slipping and it wasn’t getting any forward gears but it would work fine in reverse
Great video! My civic 2010 have the D flashing somtime .they toll me the 2nd pressure sensor need to replace. Since is sometime and trans work fine.can I drive like that as long is no running crazy or like Drag Racing?
What an amazing information
Thanks for that maTe
Why not flush? Get the crap out of the torque converter
Step to the head of the class!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!!
Is ok to just top off my transmission fluid ? I had a guy change my right axel and he said some fluid came out.
Can adding BG ATC Plus conditioner hurt to a high mileage Honda transmission?
Great video! Thanks Brian, I feel a lot better about my 2005 pilot now.
I just bout a 03 hybrid with a bad transmission, checked the magnets and all have little shavings lol guess ill get a replacement
Hey, I have not had AWD vehicle before and don' know if it is normal sound. So I park next to the wall or garage and switch gears on my Acura RL, from P to R, to D and so on, there is a noise under the car which is associated with the shifting of the gears/drive shaft. It is normal to be able to hear that?
I just picked up a 03 odyssey that drives for a few minutes then acts like it's in neutral.
I'm clueless
My car(civic 8th) don't show any blinking light, but the car can't moving to 4th gear until i move it to N and put it Back again to D, I have tried to change the big sensor under the air filter but the problem still the same, also tried to change the 3rd clutch pressure switch and I don't see any difference, does anyone facing the same problem? Need your help?, thank you
I flushed my 212k mile Honda 02 odyssey trans. Been good for 1.5 k miles
It really grinds my gears when the manual asks for 3.1 or 2.2 liters or whatever, and they only sell 1 liter bottles. It's like its on purpose to force you to buy another bottle.
need trans cooler on all from factory
I have an accord 2002. When I switch from Reverse to D the car does like 2 jumps/bucks? What could it be ? Great Video
Stealerphipe might be better!!
Great video! Thank you.
I'm starting to get a little shudder when my 2005 CRV shifts into second gear . I've read that changing the transmission oil will help this what's your opinion .
The 1998 civic .. you check the trans fluid with engine hot and off too!!!!!!!!
Bro your awesome!
I'm confused, I drained and filled mine. I read 3.1 and 3.3 Quarts but regardless of which, I put in 3Qts and a tad more and barely got a reading on the stick. I added a little more and it was barely at the lower hole. Now I've got 3 and 3/4 quarts in and it's a little pass the lower hole but not even close to the halfway point of the 2 holes. And YES, after each adding I drive the 2002 odyssey till normal operating temp, park on a level surface and wait a few minutes for it to settle. I don't know why it's reading so low and I'm scared to add more almost 4 qts. This has been over 3 days and I've checked no leaks underneath and no drips in the driveway… leaving on a trip in 2 days and don't know if I should add more.
Here's an example of where the reading is on the dipstick, the (O's) are the holes and the (I) is where my reading is…
O I O
Should I add more???
Brah watching from Guam ?? thank you also for explaining on transmission flush versus just drain and fill.
to be clear…..drain/fill x1…….but what about multiple x4 drain/fill on the same day? is that flushing?
Lucky you, your trans dipstick is on the correct side. On my 2001 Honda Odyssey it’s on the side where the belts & pulleys are located and we know that lubricated belts is a no-no.
I never have magnetic shavings on my drain plug.
My Fluid is Always Red when I drain it.
Drain and refill, 4 Times over a Short period of time
will change the Trans Fluid, According to The Manuel.
Brown Fluid is never Good
Always use Honda Fluid, I have a 06 CR-V
with 201K and runs like new.
Are there any filters that we should replace as well?
AMSOIL in Honda and Acura 5 speeds and 6 speeds… Dw1 is not a good fluid it oxidizes fast it can't handle any heat it has killed many transmissions.
Ive used the idemitsu H-plus with good results, over 3 years and still smooth. 99 ody with 220,000. I was using Castro foreign oil with ok results.
What you guys' opinion on having the transmission fluid change in a CVT Honda 2017 Accord
M0P4R asked about Idemitsu fluids. Idemitsu is a Japanese petroleum/automotive fluid company that formulates fluids (ATF, PS) and oils for most, probably all, Asian auto brands. Many chain auto parts stores carry Idemitsu products. They have brand specific products without paying dealer pricing. Other fluid companies, Peak, Prestone, etc. are making asian, european and brand specific products now, too.
That dark fluid is usually from the torque converter. Very common problem with Honda’s. And Honda gas changed the fluid type several times over the years.
Just buy one with a manual trans. Much simpler.
What about the transmission filter?
i have a 2005 v6 accord i change the fluid every year 3 quarts i have been using mobil 1 atf since new car has 302,000 on it
I have a 2011 Accord. On top of the transaxle there is a square plate with four various sized tubes going in/ coming out of it. PLEASE someone tell me what that is. It's leaking and the trans is not behaving at all. Got the flashing engine light. If it's driven easy and low speeds, it's like there was never a problem. Bought this car for my daughter's straight A's and now it seems a nightmare is about to take place. BRIAN'S OR ANYONE'S HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
