Is there any particular reason you chose not to use rosin core solder?

I no longer use shrink tubes since discovering a product called Liquid Tape (thanks to Scotty Kilmer!). It's basically liquid plastic, paint it on and it dries into perfect insulation. Although you do need to have the time to let it dry awhile, so it depends on what you're doing, and I like to put on a couple coats.

After working as a professional in the electronics industry for over 30 years I can definitely say this is Not, repeat Not, how you join wires together. Solder is a weak joining agent if you pull hard enough on those wires the way you joined them they will come apart after soldering.

Good tip to “splice” the wires, never thought of that. Thanks to your grandpa! I used to just twist them together. Also, haven’t used that silicone stuff myself, I used universal glue in the same way. All ways are good except the bad ones
How did he get the solder onto the soldering iron and what is the wire he prods it with ?
My problem is that the solder melts and hardens sooooo quickly that I’ve no time to move or shape it. Is my iron too hot? What temperature sjould I set it to? Thanks ?

I remember when I used to soldier wires. .cork soakers.
I have never seen anyone putting grease on the soldered connection and I solder frequently too I have never done that as its not needed as lead and tin and the copper of the wire does not get corroded by water
This didn't end up being quite what I needed to find, but was still fascinating and I watched through regardless.

I don't know why but my solder falls off ,
I have tried many components and get the same result, I tried different components and pieces of wire, metal, nails, screws etc I have done it with the same result, it falls off and the components are not sticking together, it's frustrating as people like yourself do it like second nature, I will keep trying, lol
