I’m sorry but all the reasons you gave for not using the Arduino are all the reasons I like learning on it. I want to learn wiring and how electronics work, I want to learn coding, and how to read a sketch.
It’s like saying “if you want to drive a car, you gonna need to learn all those things, how to put your seatbelt, turn on the car, shift gears, look at the mirrors…” shocking!! Outrageous!!
You think people are too dumb to understand programming… "oh my god, look at all those lines to blink an led" but if you remove all the unnecessary comments, it is not that difficult. When I was 12, there was some BASIC programs in my maths book. I typed them, modified them, and it was fun. And they were longer than your blinking led example. And I am not a genius, just a guy who enjoys programming. Having an arduino would have been so much more fun at that time. And you can do useful stuff with only a small part of c++. You don't have to know what a pointer is to rotate a stepper motor for example.

I disagree. Arduino is good for beginners. Just buy a starter kit online and download a project book to follow along. If you want more information about Arduino, you can just google and watch youtube about it. I didn't know how to determine which resistors are for which OHMs at first, but I watched youtube about it and use a resistor calculator on google, and now I know which one is 110, 220, and 10K OHMs. When you do the project tutorials from the book, sometimes it doesn't work and this can help you to problem solve it on your own which is good. I learned to use breadboards that way. You learn more by doing mistakes. Also coding on the Arduino IDE with C# is not that hard. Don't use graphical IDEs such as scratch unless you are a 5yr old child, but why would a 5yr old child play with Arduino though? So yeah just use the normal Arduino IDE. I'm 20yrs old and I only know the basics of Java programming. But I can code and understand C# fairly easily as the syntax is almost the same as Java. If you are new to programming, just do a programming tutorial on youtube, know the basics and you're good to go for Arduino. I started learning Arduino last week. Started learning soldering 3 days ago. I'm still far from doing my own projects but I'll keep practicing for both my Arduino knowledge and soldering skills (kinda addicted to soldering now, it's fun).

This is stupied advice for beginners. If you are a beginners exactly you can start with arduino and raspery pi for meet with embedded systems and programming. You can learn in same time basic of the electronics. Making some wiring is good also for the future. You can start the learn reading schematics and making your own electronic circuits. Also arduino and raspery will be teach you lots of things that about programming. You are starting to learn programming and electronic so cannot think about its complicated so if complicated do witch is complicated dont escape to wıtch is easy. If something is easy trust me you will learn nothing. I Like to say also they are never so complicated just they have a language witch is you need to learn for talking with them and they are really not much complicated. This would only be true for kids 10 and under, this is simple stuff that anyone above that age should be able to understand fairly easily. Secondly, Raspberry Pi has Scratch preinstalled, and children and beginners were kept in mind while designing the software and hardware. Even though installing the OS and setup may be somewhat complex, there are many step by step tutorials explaining how to do this. Finally, A raspberry pi or an Arduino can be used for a much longer period of time than something like a microbit. Nothing really useful or unique can be made with a microbit given its limitations and restricted community. Arduino and Raspberry Pi can be used in beginner and advanced projects alike, have amazing communities which can offer support, and the range and amount of content regarding these devices are much larger than any other learning platform for electronics or programming.

I have an UNO to start with a new development and when this works I use a Pro mini for deployment.
The only difficulty I have with this boards is the low availibility of ram and flash memory but even that I can do a lot with it.
Everything depends on what you want to do and what you want to pay for it.
The Pro mini is an easy to use, very cheap board (+-2 $) and fast enough to do the most "normal" things so why should I change?
