I don’t like breathing the exhausts from Briggs o Strattons oilburner. Another reason to convert to electricity is the price of environmental friendly gasoline. This mover works great for regular cutting. The geared motor is 450 Watt and 500 rpm. The batteries are four 12V, 7Ah, in series and parallel to make 24V and 14Ah. I have been cutting for 15 min and no signs of battery weakening. The speed controller is not getting warm.

  1. Very cool and practical. Please list the brand and type of motor.

  2. This Video made me laugh so hard when it was riding by it self. I could see it chasing someone…😁

  3. I have an 1960’s Jacobsen reel mower that has a 2 stroke motor on it. I have been planning to replace it with a cordless drill. I tried it for awhile but ended up breaking the transmission in the drill. Next I’m gonna try a brushless RC 1/8th scale motor directly driven off the motor. That will allow for a standardized motor controller with the ability to remote control the whole mower since it has self propelled functionality. All I will need to do is add a steering servo and a clutch servo. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. I love this mower! Works great⌯⌯⌯t.co/ycXz48eNOn   and I actually want to go cut my grass. I also love that I’m helping the environment at the same time! It is a bit of a work out if you let your grass go for a couple of weeks. But if you stay on top of it and cut it once a week it’s a breeze 🙂

  5. im planning on doing the same..my reel mower only needs about 100 rpms max with high torque..any suggestions? i was just thinking of using a 20v dewalt drill set to the low speed and using that..

  6. any I have been wanting to do something like this. Do you have the steps on how you completed this. Any help or advice you could give would be great.

  7. I am using a controller from an old Scooter. Nothing you can buy from a store, but there are plenty of suitable controllers on eBay.

  8. I had the same idea today, will do it on the weekend!
Old jigsaw motor and 230v ~500w motor should move lawn fast…

  9. LOL I was just thinking to myself, "did he remove the gearing, or is it now self propelled with this setup". Then I saw it flying across the lawn by itself! Good work, done any modification to it?
