I have Multiple Sclerosis, MS, watch me rebuild an old lawnmower and fit it with radio control and two wheelchair motors to allow me to cut my grass without having to bother my son.

The motors were sourced from eBay, the Sabretooth control pcb from Amazon and the RC stuff I had lying about my workshop.

Some people have asked about my workshop, I’m also a licensed radio amateur, my callsign is GI6FZI. I enjoy constructing and repairing all types of mechanical and electronic equipment.

The refurb took approx 2 weeks, most of which was waiting on bits.

  1. Very creative! Soon, no one will have to mow their yard. Start the electric powered mower from the computer, and watch it mow from the computer. My research reveals there will be fierce competition this spring, i.e., new type batteries, much smaller, better longevity, much less expensive. Some states are already banning small gasoline engines! Soon, they will be worth 'nothing'! Where will a person purchase after market parts for their small gasoline engines? ? ? Thanks for the video! I subscribed!

  2. I've been wanting to do this for a long time for mowing my ditches using trax on the wheels for more traction. I found a 24 volt alternator which could be belt driven from the engine so as to act as an on-board charging system.

  3. I'm building one, too. Im looking for a tie down for the battery and you seemed to have come up with a good idea. What did you use and where did you buy it?

  4. NICE WORK! How is in doing today? Can you make an update video?

  5. This is the first RC mowbot I’ve seen where the builder didn’t go through the hassle of retrofitting casters to the front.
Does it have any issues turning when not going forward/backwards?
