In this video I see what happens when you fill an air mattress with helium! Can you actually ride it like a magic carpet? Does it float. Then I try filling a bike tire with helium to see if it makes the bike tire any lighter. Then I talk about helium and why we are running out of helium. How is it produced and where is it going? Will we run out of helium on earth?

  1. NASA is the world's largest consumer of Helium which it uses in its large balloon program. There needn't be a shortage of helium since it can be made via the the decay of radio-isotopes in spent uranium fuel rods.

  2. Please can anyone identify the song in the background around 3:20? It’s so beautiful please let me know you’ll make my day!!!!

  3. is you dad Mr, Wizerd he was my hero as a kid ,lol still is im 45 ha ,,,,love your content

  4. This is what I wanted to do with the helium tank we kept at the house when I was a kid… Almost did it also, then my dad stopped me when I was like 10 lol

  5. I was planning on making a joke about filling the mattress with hydrogen, because I can't imagine how that could go wrong, but I got ninja'd 😔

  6. You should recall original Archimedes statement. The force will be equal to the weight of the displaced fluid. So what is the weight of the mattress filled with air minus mattress material. Let me help you, 22.4 liters of air weighs about 29 grams, and human is about 70 kilograms.

  7. Fun fact. A typical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (M.R.I.) machine uses 1700 litres of liquid Helium. We don't have an alternative yet. So party balloons are kind of a demonstration of sociopathic tendencies, because some day somewhere a person will need an MRI and there will be no way to make the machine function. This experiment could have been disproven without wasting a precious resource.

  8. I tried this with hydrogen. I also smoke in bed.

I died shortly after that, I'm posting this comment from the afterlife

  9. It’s been 2 years.. Have you called them to see if they have helium in stock now? I’m actually kind of curious, I’m sure Brandon has made that shortage even worse like everything else and pushed it back by about 3 years! Lol. I couldn’t even get my important meds filled this week because of the backed up shipping around the entire US, not to mention they’re about 3x the cost right now. Let’s go Brandon!
