Great watch!
On the point of cameras: those wife-connected cameras have proven their worth many times for my family. e.g., we had people creeping around our property at night for several months, but they would leave right before the police showed up every time. We set up some of those wifi cameras that were NV capable, and ended up getting footage of dudes climbing onto our shed roof and stalking through the woods, and we also got an alert on our phone as soon as the cameras detected movement, allowing us to call the police that much faster. Still, privacy is a huge concern. We had people hack our cameras once or twice so they were not 100% reliable for use as an alert system, nor did we feel comfortable using them inside the house. As long as you understand those drawbacks, they can serve a purpose.
On the point of having a plan: This proved critical for us! When I was a kid, my parents taught me to always get them if I heard something. They also taught us that if we felt like we were in danger and couldn't get to them, to yell "Dad get your gun!" even if Dad wasn't home. The idea being that the thought of a protective father tearing through the house with a gun would strike the ever loving fear of God into anyone who might think about hurting one of us kids.
Sure enough, there was one night when Dad wasn't home but I heard someone rummaging through the laundry room. I was two rooms over when I heard them move into the living room next to me. Without thinking, I fell back on the instructions my parents had taught me and yelled "Dad, get your gun, get your gun!" The intruder ran out the laundry room door so fast I couldn't get a good look at him.
If you have external door hinges, make sure they are pinned or locked. Most can be pushed up and out with a small pick in seconds. Also you can pin your hinges. Very simple. Check out videos on it
Thanks for making me reevaluate my home defense ammo. Great info.
I liked most of your points, but DO NOT THINK that frangible rounds won't sail right through drywall just like a JHP or FMJ! They are meant to break apart on hard targets, not necessarily soft ones like drywall.
Yes, please make that shotgun slugs video love those videos , looking forward to it

Have a Ring security system with 4 cameras. Plus 4 alarm dogs. It's like a roach motel…burglars might check in but they won't check out
DOGS BIG DOGS
Our house was broke in to years ago. During repairs, I installed the armored hardware on the lock and deadbolt with long screws. Same for the door hinges. It's a small 1980's home, so a weapon is staged in each bedroom. Wife shoots better than I do! 🙂 Several years ago, I built a "birdhouse" out of a cedar fence picket. Just a simple house with a hole for a Wyze camera that looks at our front door. No one has ever noticed except for the birds that can't get to the birdhouse! The camera records continuously on a 64GB micro sd card so it overwrites every couple of days. That's OK. Plenty of time to check out "events". And, since it is wi-fi, I can view it from anywhere I have wi-fi access on my phone.
No. Lights are the first thing. Cutting back your bushes are the second thing. Alarm systems are rarely helpful. The burglars are going to only be there for a few minutes and by the time the alarm company even picks up they are long gone. Three friendly dogs are next. Just their presence where they bark at cars or squirrels or bad guys is enough. Burglars don’t like loud things. But lights are number one!!
Don't forget a good Dog or Dog's an have a weapon outside somewhere if you don't carry one so if you come home an can tell there's someone inside that doesn't belong you have a tool to remove them.
🤙🏻
Dogs are a good detergent, inside and outside.
Another thing to do is have key only locks on all doors, remove the keys when you leave.
Thieves can only get what fits out the window.
On windows.
Drill a 1/4 dia hole through inside pane and halfway through outside pane. Use 1/4 eye boots in holes.
They have to break window pane to get in.
On bad guy in home.
On a safe room, use an exterior door and use barrel bolts near top and bottom.
All my exterior doors have longer bolts/screws.
The best door lock in the world is my M4 they always leave faster than they come in
I lined up sights on a human one time in my life, I was ten ! a home invader broke down our front door I was waiting with dad’s jc Higgins .22 semi. Dad started me shooting at 8 , no shots fired no home robbery on adult male chastised by dads . My dad was angry , and proud 47 years ago 😀
I dont think you exercise your 2nd amendment you havent covered what legal weapons you can use in a boat or if is legal to load it with missiles to travel the pacific 🙂
When replacing door screws, remember to replace the hinge screws too. An iron clad deadbolt won’t do any good if you can kick the door off it’s hinges.
I have some parts for sales anyone's interested
Trenches and Foo Gas is a great addition. Don’t forget to have plenty of punji stick traps and pits. And for goodness sake, get yourself a big enough brush chipper, big enough to throw bodies into. No one wants to deal with the hassle of police reports and shredded up bodies break down great in the compost pile. Great for the garden or fruit trees. Don’t forget about 🐖 pigs, they are a great way to get entertainment at the expense of trespassers.
The way homes are built today… a simple box cutter will get into a home… cut the vinyl siding, all you have for protection is insulation and drywall!!!
More expensive, OSB board under the sidiing!!
I put a cable across my drive made alot of people mad. They lost there easy turn around .
Bad ass machete in the background
Door creaks Eric smiles grabs his parrot rifle finally criminal turn to red mist
I put 4" screws all the way around the door frame in my home. Now I live in a 1880's farmhouse that is all original and it is built like a fortress. I have an American Bulldog and a Shepard/Boxer mix, and they let us know if anything is going on. I don't even lock up when we leave. If you go in without us there, it would be a blood bath.
Your right about the deadlock unfortunately it goes the same for emergency services trying to get to you so don't have a heart attack
Need mote n dragon also a gattling gun the best home defence
As much as I shoot and it’s good as a shoot to think I wouldn’t take that shows they were trying to hold my wife you’re is wrong is that crock would beI would take that shot and I would hit my target I don’t miss
Hey Eric, for your slug through drywall test there’s a line of frangible slugs out by Winchester that could be interesting to test if them fragmenting would be better or worse.
Security gardening by planting thorny plants below windows and other points of entry are good at preventing break ins. Some good ones are climbing roses, crown of thorns (also poisonus), Yucca (for arid climates), and of course cacti.
Check out the song electric eye. It was off the Judas Priest album screaming for vengeance. A very prophetic song that deals with absolute survalence. We surely have arrived to this scenario.
