Today we’re taking a look at the Bulldog winch Powersports series ATV winch and the Powersports ATV recovery winch is designed for recreation and light duty work applications. This is perfect for a 250 to 350 CC sport quad 4×4, two wheel drive ATVs, and snowmobiles. It’s recommended for ATVs or units with the maximum gross vehicle weight of up to 1,000 pounds. It features a 1 horsepower permanent magnet motor which delivers fast and safe line pooling. The motor is lighter and uses less current than a series one motor. And it is sealed when it comes to the motor and gear box, so that keeps water out and prevents internal corrosion from taking place.
It has the sealed power unit with dual relays to transmit power from the vehicle batter to the winch motor. It mounts with the included hardware under your ATVs front cover or hood.Now the winch itself features a dynamic brake which holds the load while minimizing winch creeping. It’s an all steel single-staged planetary gear train, which provides increased drum speed when compared to traditional worm drives. And it comes with a rocker switch located right here. This lets your control the winch from the seat of your ATV, so it’s got plenty of wire in there and you can mount it to the handlebars with the included handlebar mount kit.It also offers a free spooling clutch located right here, so you pull this out and it moves it to free spool mode.
So that’s going to insure fast route payout and reduced wear on the motor. It comes with a 40 foot long synthetic rope, very strong and durable. It’s also light weight and safer to handle when compared to a steel cable. And then it comes with a steel hook with the safety latch mechanism to prevent accidental disconnecting. It comes with the pin and clip, so it attaches to the end of the synthetic rope.
It’s also got the metal plate in here so that’s going to prevent the hook as it rotates from doing any type of damage to the rope itself.The hawse fairlead is included. This is a heavy duty CNC machine billet aluminum Hawse fairlead, has the rounded design to it which helps prevent friction damage to the rope. And it has a black anodized finish to resist rust and corrosion. It also comes with an universal mount plate and hardware, so that’s included for winch and fairlead mounting. Now you may need a custom mounting plate which is sold separately.

The rated line pool for this unit with a single layer of synthetic rope around the drum is 2,000 pounds. That’s the static load. Motor is a 12-volt DC motor. Line pool is zero pounds. Power drill is 8 amps. Line speed is 10.5 feet/minute. Line pool at 2,000 pounds, which is max capacity. Power drill is 120 amps with a line speed of 2.9 feet/minute. Gear ratio is 153:1. The dimensions of the drum, that’s an 1 1/4″ diameter drum, measures 2 13/16″ long. And the winch itself is about 11 3/16″ long by about 4 5/16″ wide that’s front to back, by about 4 1/8″ tall top to bottom.Again, it comes with everything laid out here on the table, so you get the wench, you get the rope, you get the hook, you get the rocker switch with all the necessary wiring, universal mount plate, hawse fairlead, all the necessary hardware for the installation, handlebar mount, and then you get the control box with the included wiring on there. Everything has quick connect design to it so you have your connectors already installed, ring terminals already installed for easy connecting to the winch.
