I explain how the DC motor works in a simply and patient way. I use several experiments that you can copy at home. Then I show a Treadmill DC motor cut open and working so we can see the moving parts!

Final Note:
PLEASE UNDERSTAND…I receive hundreds of messages on all platforms (email, Facebook, Instagram, comments, etc) asking for advice, and help with projects. At this volume, I simply can’t do one on one advice. I do read all the questions, and if I get the same ones over and over I make videos about it to help lots of people. Thanks for your understanding on this.

oh my god, I am a fresh mechanical engineering graduate. My professors should learn something from you.
I already knew this stuff but you demonstrated it very nicely. I never thought the motor would spin with only one set of circular magnets underneath it but it looked amazing.
What're those grey clay like things stuck to the coils?
Your so cool , seriously man . I need a explanation on how you got this way . Iol . Ive got two 5 yo twins and a 12 yo and ive been trying to learn stuff and tinker with inductors and magnets andlearn so i can teach them as much as i can and see what happens . wait why ? Why plates of iron and what video is that on ? . Why softer too lol
superbly explained
Subtitles please
I am very happy to see this video laboratory which maked me understand the principles of the electric motor. At 61 years of age and on retirement I imyend to do a cpurse on motor vehicle elecyricity. Thamks for your wonderful course
very Well Explained for beginners.. even kid can understand ..! thank you
So what would a person need to do to take those donut magnets and make the magnets want to pull on the outside of the magnet instead of on the sides?
Still waiting for your next videos
Your videos are a godsent! Currently completing my advanced diploma in mech engineering and your videos have helped me so much ! .
Your chill though fun approach to things makes it so much less boring.
Great video. I'm looking forward to the next ones. I have a single phase AC motor powering my table saw. After gettng the bearings changed, and wiring it up, it is turning the wrong way. I look forward to seeing how to fix this.
Just found your channel. Recent BSME graduate trying to get into the field, and your videos are engaging and inspirational! Thanks so much, going to binge your channel like it's Breaking Bad in 2019
This taught me something I've wondered my whole life and never understood in 11 minutes.
You are simply amazing! Thank you for all the time you take to share your understanding of how things work.
I have an electric hand planer the motor hums but no rotation I didn't see any capacitor so I presume it is dc. I don't know if something wrong with bridge rectifier ( there is a square electrical box ). There is no permanent magnets but copper winding in the stator surrounding the rotor. I sanded the carbon brushes and got it to work for a little but now just hums and I can't get it to work.
Great vid. Practical explanation,great vid
Who is Cooper?
great
Brilliant demo.
Hi Jeremy – just another great learning video you've created. Thanks for the content! 🙂
Howdy Jeremy – that was pretty cool indeed. You had my attention the entire time. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Real videos always beat animations in terms of clarity.
Hey Jeremy, great and thorough video as always! Wondering what kind of watch are you wearing here?
good teacher, nice work with the experiments…!
"How Motors Work For Beginners" Do motors work differently for beginners than they do for experts?
Hi jeremy, this is a great video thanks, I just have one question. On 9:51 what keeps the rotor rotating? it may rotate once to align itself to the magnet. but how does it keeps rotating?
Thank you for the best explanation on this subject I have seen.
Excellent!
Simple and amazing.
Awesome video. Thanks!
Carpentry , and tools go hand in hand currently . Sorry for the bad pun .
Good on ya for helping to explain so much of what can be so mysterious to people like me .
Please continue making these informative tutorials !
I think I'm picking up what you're putting down , and it helps me .
Thanks man !
Subscribed just because of this video I seen a few years ago. Rewatched it and still love all your content.
Sir you are a living Legend.
Jeremy I want to learn how to make a wind turbine out of basic materials. WDIS? This video felt like a great first start.
Why aren’t you teaching in a college or University?
In stator there will be 2 magnet poles (north and south)… But in demo we place only one magnet pole at a time even though it's rotate!… How it's happened?
If one pole is enough to rotate a motor means why generally 2 poles are placed in stator?
Great job Jeremy. You are a talented teacher; thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge.
You should become a professor
Finally figured out why its called a squirrel cage motor.
Both stator and rotor are windings only..
So will it work as we have …
If I use electromagnet as stator means winding with supply.. as stator. And if I use same the same winding as rotor and giving power supply. Will it work..
Good illustration and explanation.
SUCH A GREAT TEACHER
Thank you somuch
Hi Jeremy.. thanks for sharing your knowledge. Clicked the subscribe button right away after I finished watching this video..
😁 😁 😁 😁
If you don't mind, kindly enlighten me a bit more about the magnet formation..
If I'm not mistaken, it should be the opposite pole between those 2 magnet to create a DC motor right???
Cmiiw..
🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
Giving this thumbs down shows that there are really some dumb people that don’t like to learn, I do know about everything that he has explained but his explanation helps me explain it to someone a lot better.
Does anybody know where to purchase the motor used in this video?
Sir. Are you a wizard? This is magic.
