I made a DIY hot tub in less than 1 hour using a 390 gallon stock tank and an on demand propane hot water heater. Stock tanks are a great way to make DIY Hot Tubs.

I guess i just don't understand… i mean for the amount of money you had to spend to make a barely serviceable hot tub (that's uncomfortable to sit in), people are giving away or selling hot tubs for cheap all the time. Even if they need repairs, it would cost less and be an actual nice purpose-built piece for your house instead of a hodgepodge of garbage junked together…. ?

I would not recommend a cloth, absorbent material underneath, as this will soak up water and rot your deck. Also massive mold will grow under hot water. You should use a closed cell foam which is used for underlay for flooring, built up to desired thickness.
You don't need a water pump to circulate the water in the tub as the hot water produced by the gas heater will circulate the water by itself through convection.

These water troughs are not made to take the weight of a person walking or laying in them. The bottom WILL LEAK.
If I buy this, how often should I.drain or what to add to.avoid microbes?
Mine works too. I used the Woodglut plans and performed it without any problems.
