Can you turn angle grinder into a induction stove / heater by mounting special neodymium magnet wheel to it? We are going to find out on this science experiment will it work, explode or open a portal to other dimension! Don’t try this at home! You shouldn’t build your own grinder attachments since they might not be able to take the speed and explode!

I think after the electronics video this calls the 24 000 rpm wood router for more power 😀
I don't if this was already mentioned in earlier comments below, but when you use iron instead of aluminium for magnet disk, you could increase the magnetic filed towards the cooking pot. Regards Thomas
I have to question my intelligence for watching a video where a guy who pounds rare earth magnets with a hammer in to an aluminium ring and secures pot with zip ties…
<hint> Machine the aluminium ring to a size .01" larger than the magnet and add a 2nd ring .02" smaller mounted to the top to hold them in. Attach to first ring with countersunk machine screws.</hint>
But it was entertaining…. sorta, in a perverse way.
It’s hard to find couple both are crazy !
I think if you slowed it down it would work better i think your RPMs are to fast every time you unplugged it the temp rised a lot quicker…
I do ?
Check how much rpm is needed to levitate 100lb with magnets spinning over copper plate.
I recorded the sound of an induction stove with a capable sound recorder at 96kHz and dropped the sample rate to 24kHz, and the outcome was something alike the little birds behind the window would experience as REALLY loud monotonic twitter as their hearing is tuned to much higher frequencies than ours!
?There are easier ways to bring water to a boil, but it's always an interesting idea?
need to have the magnets one in one out
Cast iron pan or aluminium pan to see the difference material makes.
If that is stainless, which it looked like I am guessing it would have had less effect?
You should have added a backiron to increase the airgap flux density. With the full aluminum disc, you loose flux in the working airgap on the side, where the pot sits.

You two are so smart! What a fun cool experiment!
make me miss Suomi
🙂
What an awesome experiment! Observation: If you cut off the original guard on the angle grinder and build a custom mount to get the gap to be almost nill, like 0.5mm (3mm max between magnets and pan) you'll probably see a huge increase in efficiency. The current setup is really far from the intense magnetic field, perhaps 14mm! I almost failed at math but I know that the square of distance rule applies here. So you cut that distance by 50%…you get 400% the power isn't that how it works? Or something…lol
A little hint on plugging something in that is already on. If you get one of those power strips that has a switch where you can turn the whole power strip off, you can have the strip plugged in but off, the grinder plugged in but on, and then you can control the power to it by flipping the switch on the power strip. That makes it safer. I did this with my fan because it didn't have a remote.
Power meter is measuring the "magnetic heat output" plus the normal grinder losses. Based on your video it is working perfectly.
1kW on startup with cold grinder cover – cold metal conducts better so it is drawing more current. That current is taken from the disc spinning and shows as more power draw.
700W later, the cover has heated up. Hot metal has higher resistance, so it is accepting less current from the disc.

With the pot heating, the metal doesn't change temperature much (due to water cooling it). But you see a different current when you increase the pot to disc separation, which is also reflected in the slower water heating.
So in both cases your power meter is showing how much heating your grinder is outputting + 300W to run the grinder.
Awesome tests, love your channel.
Were are they from?
?good……
The airflow won't be helping
Had a grinder throw a wheel and a chunk hit me on the thigh, didn't stick me but holy cow it hurt like hell, so glad I didn't get hit in the face.
What would happen if you put a jar of iron filings on top of it?
Surprised it didn't rip a hole in spacetime…
Wife: What is number one ?
Husband: you are number one !
Love it ! Your mad scientist approach is wonderful – the only truely inquiring mind is the one that tries things to see if they work or break. Also, the fact that you consider safety first is great. I wish more people did. Love your show, love your spirit. From Australia.
Its answering my question
So with the right set up could you use that to turn on a light bulb? He's generating a magnetic field which in turn generates current right?
Since when is flea from the chilli peppers making experiments? ?
If you do it again, it might be interesting to have a temperature probe between the pot and the polycarbonate
If you ain't hung like a horse idk wtf she's doing with you!
? The exception is making YouTube videos that have millions around the world hooked
You should try a copper kettle
"You are number 1"
Smooth…❤❤❤
I reckon you could revisit this one with closer tolerances between the grinder and the pot.. its like saying a distribution spark plug system is flawed wile expecting the spark to jump 5mm lol tolerances need to be closer
Try mounting the grinder in a drill press vice and make something to put into the chuck and lock it into place with a micro millimeter or hold your pease haha
