While in a midst of a multi-week prop replica build, Adam takes a break from the long-term project to take on a more relaxing assembly: this intricate 4-cylinder car engine model kit. Made of diecast metal parts, this animated model is an elegant visual representation of how a four stroke engine works, and a nice project to get done in a single day!

  1. I am a professional car mechanic, and I gotta say, Adam Savage never built a car engine BEFORE.
He did have the professional knowledge to make the parts work.
It will take more oil to work long-term, but I am impressed by him figuring out what is needed.

  2. It seems to me that the best part of this kit is building it. Watching it go round and round gets old very quickly. To get the best value for money out of it, you have to disassemble it and start over.

  3. that motor is a bit expensive but, look at all the other cool stuff on that web site. these models look amazing in the steam punk tab

  4. I can see you’re trying to make the video interesting but I’ve never seen such a ‘ham fisted’ assembly of an engine or any intricate mechanism for that matter ….

  5. I feel your allergy pain I can definitely relate, but I have really bad polyps so I feel like you do but all year round I need surgery, but everything is backlogged for a year or two…

  6. It humbles me too see the great Adam Savage struggle building something I wouldn't need an instruction book for… you're still a boss Mr. Savage… you're still the man… ?????? keep doin the dew sir… ??????

  7. Man that wrist pin application was FULL BULL SHIT. Not single one went flying, No swearing, No cut on thumb WTF lol

  8. Was there no engine sound. i thought there was mention of a sound circuit board. other than that, what a cool toy and great education tool for kids. Quality kit, even the box was great.

  9. I want this so bad because I'm fixing up a Datsun with an L18 Engine…but I can't afford it… especially when I consider I could buy a used ka engine for half the cost to learn on. I can live vicariously through you today though, thanks Adam!!

  10. No loud noises and explosions ? sorry guy ! ? Watched you growing up great show great job .

  11. Really cool model, But for 200 bucks more you can get a TOYAN running 4 cyl 4 stroke liquid cooled model kit, How about trying one of those?

  12. well, it's missing carb, distributer, intake manifold etc etc, not a complete motor. cool tho. would be a real learning tool if you had to do crank and rod bearings.

  13. I know it's running on an electric motor, but that model is COOL! That could almost run FOR REAL!

  14. Excellent video Adam 🙂 also now know how putting car motor together to do in future with someone together and be excellent challenge too also be smiling too !

  15. Oh thank god, that tittle pic made you look 20 yrs older ! I thought Adam flashed old ! Thank god that haven’t happened yet? He looked 80 !!!!

  16. Hi Adam,
When I was a kid I made a marble puzzle box out of Lego's and it was something fun to do when I was a boy. And then as a adult I made marble puzzle boxes out of Popsicle sticks and it turned out great and the tools I used was a scroll saw and white glue. I made the base using two layers of Popsicle sticks and since the marbles were two sticks in height I used a scroll saw to cut the walls of the puzzle box. And I made four mazes one on top of each other and each maze was different. And when the box was made it was fun playing with it for a while. And the sticks had to be very straight and very flat to make the box work. The way I have found make the sticks flat was to tap them one at a time on a flat surface to weed out the warped and bent ones. You might want to try this project sometime and it maybe fun for anyone who wishes to build one.

  17. SO jealous. Best "job" ever! The sped up video and audio is a neat touch. He sounds like he's all wacked out on tweek sauce. Super fast speech and a runny nose!
