We will be the first to admit that mowing your lawn is something some folks enjoy more than others. We fall into the group that enjoys mowing their lawn. It is relaxing, gives one time to think about life’s problems, or it may give someone a few minutes in their day to not think about anything but cutting their yard. When we were setting up the WORX Landroid, this was a big thinking topic for us. We enjoy mowing and we are putting something in that is going to eliminate it or at least minimize the amount of time. After 5-6 weeks of having it installed, we don’t miss it one bit!

WORX Landroid Automatic Mower

When talking to someone about the WORX Landroid at a backyard BBQ or at a local watering hole, we often get instant excitement and also a disappointment. They are first extremely excited about the fact you can have a robot mow your lawn while you are sitting back with a cold beverage on your patio chair. The disappointment comes when we tell them you have a boundary wire and the unit goes in a random pattern. Folks want this amazing futuristic technology that can program patterns and stripes. We are not there yet but well on our way. With an artificial intelligence algorithm for intricate cuts and navigating narrow passages, the WORX Landroid Automatic Mower is quite impressive.

With an artif

icial intelligence algorithm for intricate cuts and navigating narrow passages, the WORX Landroid Automatic Mower is quite impressive. The user-friendly control panel is extremely easy to use and understand. You can customize the time the unit goes out and mows and how long it mows each day. With the built-in rain sensor, you don’t have to worry about it mowing in wet conditions. When the unit senses wet conditions, it doesn’t go out and mow and waits for it to dry out. If it is out mowing and it starts to rain, it will head back to the docking station and wait for it to dry out.

WORX states it has an anti-theft system but that just utilizes a security PIN. If someone wants to steal the unit, they can certainly go pick it up and run off with it. They may not be able to use it unless they guess your pin but it won’t deter them from stealing it all that much.

  1. Is it common for the worx landroid to run out of power before returning to charging station or is that a fault?

  2. Why does the Landroid appear to just push the grass over without actually cutting it. Every Video!

  3. cool product are there options on it as far as cutting patterns etc ? when i use a push mower i like to do the Ballpark style Mow with the opposite straight lines

  4. Robot mowers would be so much better if it incorporated proper mapping. Example: Use phone app, press button to set a perimeter based off mobile location (as you walk it will create a line based on where your phone is). Robot then uses that perimeter based on world map location and mows according to the position (effectivly "colouring in" sections of the perimeter) so that it eliminates the constant overlapping of current wire boundary tech.

  5. I don't see the point of it… the time spent messing with the boundary wire equates to several mowing cycles with a regular mower.
Then.. it obviously does a comparatively lousy job. It wanders around rolling over and laying down nearly every square inch of turf, then its razor blades create zero "lift" to stand the blades upright for a good cut.
The shabby result is obvious in this video that shows the neighbor's yard in the background.
Let me know when they make a 5-6hp 21+ inch version that cuts properly and doesn't meander around aimlessly.

  6. I notice that your grass goes right up to the fence. Can you get the mower to cut close to the fence or is that something you have to do with an ordinary mower at intervals?

  7. In times like these we need convert our wasteful lawns and backyards to permaculture food forest gardens landscapes with perennial drought and heat tolerant plants watered by collected rain water saved in garbage cans or rain barrels to provide food year long for our family, friends and neighbors. It’s healthy and better for us mentality/physically and the environment. Then mow the remainder of the little grass in paths. 🙂

  8. Call me lazy, but I'm way past mowing my own lawn being a right of passage. I've been paying taxes for 32 years now. I can think of plenty of things I'd rather be doing. Like not paying someone else to mow it.

  9. I do have a question. I do not own a lawn can’t speak from experience. from 1-10 how much more aesthetically pleasing is you mowing your own lawn

  10. They should program it to cut in straight lines I'm sure it's possible that looks like a kid cut the grass lol

  11. I gotta say all the zig zaggy lines in your yard, when you look to your neighbours nice straight lines behind the way, its just not nearly as good a look. Shame the landroid can't just go in straight lines to make it cleaner looking

  12. Welcome to the year 2020 where everyone wants a easy button, app or robot for EVERYTHING. Its okay humans SOON enough the robots will make them their slaves. You guys ready to have robots as your boss? Did i mention you will work for free? And if you don't like it they will kill you. NO ONE on the face of the planet new quantum pysics better than Stephen Hawkings. He said robots are going to kill us all in LESS than 100 years about that was 10 years ago. Times ticking. Hope you know how to get off the grid and live underground. Soon before its all said and done JESUS will return.
Yeah i know i sound crazy huh? #JUSTWATCH

  13. Excellent review…. although I was a bit confused with your use of the word "boulevard." I assume you're referring to a driveway.
Anyway, thanks for the great video!

  14. How much time is the mower active (either charging or mowing) for you to get a consistent cut? I'm wondering how much time you can leave the mower off completely. How many days are you having it mow? When I look at a similar robot mower from Husqvarna, when your lawn is close to the maximum size rating for the mower, they have it active about 22 hours a day (either mowing or charging).

  15. In 2019 they should mow in a systematic pattern and not require a guide wire. Also they really could be a lot smaller.

  16. I've liked this idea since the roomba was introduced but don't like the need for guide wires. These should be trainable. Manually cut once, it records and repeats. GPS for docking.

  17. Wouldn't you be able to run the boundary wire underneath that fence beside your gate and use the bump sensors to go around it in order to maintain that minimum 3' distance between the wires? Or is relying on the bump sensors bad for the unit?

  18. This sounds awesome. I'm physically unable to mow my lawn. This would save so much $$$ compared to lawn service.

  19. My yard is too large for that mower but holy cow would I love a robotic mower, I hate cutting grass.

  20. all that faf with boundary wires and the labour and disruption from lifting the fence/gate, you could have manually mowed the lawn 10 times the human way, total waste of money, as useful as chickens teeth I say.

  21. For the love of God! Can’t we just go outside get some fresh air/exercise and cut the grass ourselves?
