If you would like to build the same setup, I have listed the parts required at the bottom of this description.

Note: The 3D printed brackets/pulley were designed specifically for the bike used in the video, it will not fit any other bike and I will not be modifying it on request to fit to other bikes.

Disclaimer: I do not hold responsibility for any wrongful riding if you chose to build this ebike. It is beyond the legal limit (250w) for an electric bike, which is why I chose to ride it within the grounds of my university.

  1. Great project, original and innovative, nice !

You made me want to do the same !
    And … I did it !
But with a more powerful motor placed elsewhere in the bicycle 🙂

Despite the high power, it works great (better than expected) and the bicycle goes very fast as you can see on my video :

  2. sir can we use such a motor with the regenerative braking
what changes we have to do in the system, can you please make a video on it

  3. I seriously doubt that little engine and belt could drive uphill my 180 pounds plus camping gear. It´s a great, simple design.

  4. Outstanding. I've been looking for a production kit like this with no luck – all hub motor or friction drives. The final weight must have been far less than "standard" ebike components. Thanks for posting.

  5. You should do this project again or upgrade the bike and make it so that when you brake it actually chargers the battery.

  6. great idea! I have an idea to make similar but use car engine's timing belt (it's durable in car engine upto 60.000 km).
but how it's connected to the wheel's spokes? can't believe that with just "5mm wide cable ties" 🙂

  7. Hi! Very interesting project! If you want you can follow back my channel for telling me what do you think about my E-bike project! 😉

  8. Cool had a go i have the motor spinning on test but i am stuck on the twist throttle calibration it is sensorless your help would be great.

  9. dish motor on the back end would be better!, more expensive for a battery to power it but no belts etc and you can buy a pedal assist sensor and controller for less than £40 and get up to 50mph lol

  10. Bunu ben denedim 12 volt 65 amper jel akü ile 20 dakika çok rahat hareket edebiliyor seni

  11. but i dont know what motor i can use that will help with speed and torque of bike and 2 people and a small trailer

  12. ok im seeking some help id like to do something similar though i need more power and torqu as my bikes heavier its an american speedster pvc classic side kick for2 people id like 2 put 2 motors on the rear wheels and go about 35 mph
